YING & YANG
"yin and yang”, is used to describe how polar opposites or contrary forces are interconnected and interdependent in the natural world, and how they give rise to each other in turn.
Opposites thus only exist in relation to each other.
Many natural dualities such as dark and light, female and male, low and high, cold and hot, water and fire, air and earth— are thought of as manifestations of yin and yang.
Yin yang are not opposing forces (dualities), but complementary opposites, unseen (hidden, feminine) and seen (manifest, masculine), that interact within a greater whole, as part of a dynamic system
They cannot exist without each other.
Everything has both yin and yang aspects as light cannot exist without darkness and vice-versa, but either of these aspects may manifest more strongly in particular objects, and may ebb or flow over time.
yin and yang are bound together as parts of a mutual whole. A balance.
Yin is characterized as slow, soft, yielding, diffuse, cold, wet, and passive; and is associated with water, earth, the moon, femininity and nighttime. !!!
Yang, by contrast, is fast, hard, solid, focused, hot, dry, and aggressive; and is associated with fire, sky, the sun, masculinityand daytime. !!!
